random rocket art...

i was talking to ang about pricing art and i brought up this sculpture. i carved it in two days with a chainsaw and then i priced it stupid high at a couple art shows cause i don't want to sell it and since it is award winning! so i said to her i would post it so she could see it. i want to have time to carve a few more! he is life size, and heavy!
the girl figure on the right is ink wash from a drawing class we had 5 minutes to do this exercise. the egret is from the same sculpture class as the dude above.
the fiber transfer panel is from, you guessed it, one of my many fiber classes, B.F.A. in FIBERS people!~ the inflatable is a gumball machine that actually blew the gumballs inside the bubble. we totally got an A on this, there were three of us in a team!
this was for a show that was about pushing the envelope on taboo things, does this? know what it is?

three drawings from a class, all three had to be worked erased then re-worked over a few days each... tons of work. i want to frame the elephant cause he is adorable! but he is taller than me!

thanks jen...

Found this on one of my dear friends blogs tonight.(link)
I want this kid to run for President, tomorrow.

need a laugh? this is contagious! ...

don't know what is cuter, the precious baby or the gentle dog? the last little sigh at the end cracks me up after the baby rolls over, like he can't laugh anymore!!!
I found this comment at a friends, CJ's blog, link,

I am thinking
how different my life is this year, from last...and wondering what the next year will bring.

i have gone through a transformation of sorts this summer. i am better for it. i know where i want to be next year and even the year after that. i am dumping all negative from my heart and moving on with only positive. life is tooo short to dwell on any people who have hurt me and figure out why. i need only positive and will only seek positive out.

i have family who i will never see and it truly doesn't bother me anymore. when i leave this place it will be an amazing feeling. a fresh start with new family. i also feel that blood isn't thicker than water and that "a family made is better than a family had" -just made that up :). G and i are more in love than we could possibly ever be, 9+ years. how can it be healthy to love someone this deeply?

i love my wife, i love my kids, i love my friends, i love my job, what more is there?

rocket random...

Not Too Old to Do Her Own Hit: Elsa Seman, 71, was shot and killed in North Versailles, Pa., in September, when she was mistaken for a prowler. According to police, Seman had gone to the home of her ex-boyfriend at night and, dressed in black, commando-style, was lying in wait in his yard with a pistol, intending to kill him. A neighbor called in the report of a prowler, and a police officer arriving at the scene fatally shot Seman. [Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, 9-21-09]

Troubling Products: Mattel is accepting pre-orders for the April 2010 release of the newest doll in the Barbie/Ken line, the spiffily dressed Palm Beach Sugar Daddy Ken (apparently to be showcased with a much younger, trophy-type Barbie). [EntertainmentEarth.com, 10-28-09]

Even more troubling (but so far only a prototype) is Alex Green's "Placenta Teddy Bear," exhibited in London in September and Newcastle, England, in October at the "(re)design" showcase of "sustainable toys" with children's themes. After the placenta is cured and dried, it is treated with an emulsifier to render it pliable and cut into strips with which to stitch Teddy together, thus "unify(ing)" mother and baby. [Discover Magazine blogs, 10-1-09]

People With Too Much Money: A young, media-shy Chinese woman, identified only as "Mrs. Wang" and photographed in jeans, a T-shirt and baseball cap, purchased an 18-month-old Tibetan mastiff in September for a reported 4 million yuan (about $585,000). She ordered a motorcade of 30 luxury cars to meet her and the dog on their arrival in Xi'an, in Shaanxi province. The price is almost four times the previous reported high for the purchase of a dog (a cloned Labrador, by a Florida family). [The Times (London), 9-11-09]

A September inquest into the 2007 suicide of a 26-year-old woman found that doctors at Norfolk and Norwich Hospital could have saved her, but that because she had executed a living will ordering no treatment, they rebuffed the pleas of family members to treat her because, they said, they feared the woman would sue them if she recovered. [Daily Telegraph, 9-30-09]

Chicago firefighter-turned-arsonist Jeffrey "Matches" Boyle (so nicknamed by Chicago Tribunecolumnist John Kass), who was sentenced to six years in prison in 2006 (served less than two) after pleading guilty to setting eight fires, was officially approved for his $50,000/year pension from the Chicago Fire Dept. Cook County Judge LeRoy Martin Jr. (euphemistically referred to as a "veteran" of "Chicago politics") concluded that Matches was off the clock when he set the fires.

A corporation squirms: Two Wisconsin men filed a lawsuit against PepsiCo for violating their patent on purified water, asking damages of $1.26 billion. The lawsuit was properly served on the company's registered agent in North Carolina, but the PepsiCo bureaucracy buried it, and PepsiCo never responded. Judgment for the men. destra dog...

My dog Destra, almost 5 yrs old. I thought I was going to have to put her to sleep yesterday or today but we got a slight window of opportunity to get her fixed up with her worsening bad back legs. Ya think living through Hurricane Katrina she would have an easy go at life...follow this LINK to find out more about my baby. I hate asking for help but it may be the only way...does anyone know anything about dog leg amputation, someone who builds carts for dogs with 2 legs and extra few dollars to help with her ever growing vet care?
